Memory Improvement Speaker Disappears in Bermuda Triangle. Or, Remember to Save Your Memory While It's Fresh in Your Mind - Before it Evaporates
I waited too long and I lost a treasured memory of Bermuda-- so now can I get it back?
Early this March I was in Bermuda, as the keynote speaker for the Wonderful Women being honored at the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce 2nd Annual Wonder Woman Luncheon.
I was enamored with the beauty of the island, and charmed by all the people I encountered. They treated me royally -- and The Bermuda Royal Gazette ran a great article about my memory training keynote presentation. They even included a photo of me on the podium of the Fairmont Hotel -- a photo capturing an energetic and laughing me -- (If you're like me and you usually sift through fifty-seven photos to find the one that shows your personality and hides the wrinkles - or whatever it is you wish wasn't showing - then you can understand why I was so thrilled to see a candid photo of me that I loved.)
Had I only acted soon enough. Then I could have included a link in this blog article so - if you wanted to - you could just click onto the March 10, 2008 Bermuda Royal Gazette page and see me in my glory.
But too much time elapsed - and there is now a different article - and a different photo - and mine is in the archives and I will have to do a lot of research to get it back. And when I do, I will send it out so you can see it, if you wish.
Lessons learned as life imitates memory training.
Notice how similar this "lost in the internet photo experience" is to when you're introduced to someone, and you wait too long to pay attention and capture his or her name - and then the name evaporates from your mind as you are introduced to the next person...
So you can see - whether it's names
and faces you want to recall, or newspaper articles posted on the
internet you want to be able to click on - how important it is for you to understand what is important to you - and then not wait to capture the images you want to remember - or, they'll disappear.
Don't forget to take the time to remember!
